As we head into the #NZPol Chris mass season, the odds on the next Prime Minister having the first name Chris are very high. However, I''d like to broaden the prospects to the likelihood of the next NZ Prime Minister having a first name beginning with the letter C. This #NZTwits select your preferred next #NewZealand Prime Minister poll is brought to you by the letter C. https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/political/579973/chris-bishop-says-he-s-not-plotting-to-roll-christopher-luxon

@jeremy_pm I doubt that is a representative sample of New Zealand voting intention, probably reflects Mastodon quite accurately.

@billbennett 100% Although I like the idea of encouraging people to think outside the square. I calculate it will only take a party vote of about 20-25% to make this a reality. I like to remind people that under MMP if you're not entirely convinced that Labour are fully committed to taking the action we so desperately need to combat climate change, poverty and social collapse then you can party vote NZ Green without sacrificing control to the tyrants.

@jeremy_pm Personally I’d like to see the Greens put more emphasis on the climate part of that list, I feel it often gets pushed too far down the agenda. But I realise I’m in a minority.

@billbennett Sadly the environment is a victim of capitalism and social policy, it seems a shame to me more people don't understand this.

@jeremy_pm You could also put that the other way around, fixing the environment requires fixing the other things.

@jeremy_pm @billbennett that's why a 'Blue-Green' political movement is stillborn. It's predicated on a fundamental misunderstanding of how the world operates. I fully agree with the Green Movement's focus on social justice/equity as a *prerequisite* to forming a society capable of caring for the environment. Seems to me that in the UK they're already getting this. Or at least the up-and-coming generations are.

@worik @jeremy_pm @billbennett heh, I'll take that under advisement - I'd argue, that before talk of environmental considerations can commence, social equity must be in place, otherwise many in society - the precariat - won't even be in a position to think about it.
