Anyone else kind of hate days off if only because it ruins the schedule?I want days off. I need days off. But I also get so stressed out when school goes on break. I tried to explain this to another teacher and I think they reported me to HR for being unwell.

@apLundell You see? Five on Five off? Great!Or even five on three off?But people have to do holidays and all these things and so it can't be consistent and it's stressful.

@futurebird I do not recall my teacher parents making such a statement. Have you been getting enough vitamin D and B12?

@futurebird I'm so well-known in activist circles, I attended an event today run by an organisation of which I'm not even a member, raised my hand to ask a question, and the host (a stranger to me) addressed me by name. 😆I absolutely cannot stand to be at home doing nothing, so treated a long period of ill health as an opportunity to fight for causes close to my heart, because no-one cares how many breaks you have to take if it's not a salaried job. 🤷🏻♂️

@apLundell I do think a 5-5 might require rethinking some educational things. 5 days is the exact amount of time that causes students to return ... a little behind. You lose about a half-day of instruction where with 4 or fewer there isn't that loss. Everyone is going "what were we doing again??"So, maybe it's not practical. That doesn't mean I need to pretend to be happy.

@futurebird I love and need to go on vacation but somewhere in the back of my mind, I know that all of those things I have to do are not going away, and it can be a source of angst.

@futurebird @apLundell I once worked 137 days straight. It was weird and I'd never want to do it again, but it was kinda nice never having to think about what I was doing, just get up and go to work same as the day before. Now I'm scrubbing dishes at a few sorority/fraternity kitchens (which is already odd), and don't know what to do with the breaks coming up.I somehow doubt I'll be back after the summer break, since I can't imagine not just finding a new (normal) job during that downtime.

@collette I was mostly joking about that. Just saying they thought I was crazy for saying anything like that.

@futurebird YES! It feels like someone coming into my work and not knowing how to do my job, but trying anyway and they end up making a big mess which means afterwards I have to do my job AND clean up after them. Not one person warned me about this before I got married. Not. One.

@Virginicus @mattmcirvin OK this is an advantage of school I suppose. Everyone stops and starts together.

@futurebird I agree, @futurebird. Usually I'll have the weekend off, but rarely I'll have split days off. And that bites...because I'll have a Monday off, and then the next day off will be on Wednesday...
