       After being open since Monday, the Christmas Market, for whatever reason, is closed today. I'm sure there's some draconian bullshit rule behind this, but the pho place is open and fate has thrown me a bone. Been meaning to try this place for awhile now. Baffles me though... Sundays are the print your own money days at the winter market. I live in the great upside down. I don't now how the world stage can take Germany seriously. It's like dealing with the Amish.

       @Unabart it's Totensonntag, Eternity Sunday. I think there was even a rule against dancing on that day.Seems odd, OTOH maybe not everything needs to be sacrificed on the altar of money. Cause face it, Christmas markets are just money generators anyway.

       @fedops The amount of bewildered ppl wandering around, wondering the same thing as I was, led me to believe that ppl wouldn't mind being able to have some gluhwein and currywurst on one of their days off.

       @fedops For many vendors, the turnout at xmas market can make or break it for them. I doubt there’s a single vendor there that wouldn’t have opened today if they had the opportunity. Super easy to take the anti-capitalist stance when you don’t have to worry about it, but for these people shoveling sausages out of a trailer in the frozen cold, it can make a big difference when they’re told they can’t earn on the busiest day of the week because of some ancient relgious tradition.

       @Unabart it's not like it's a surprise - that is all factored in. Also anyone who wants to go to these markets knows that and plans around it to go another day. I doubt there's a single lost sale because of it.
