@Judge_Earl_P_Thayton As a kid, my family owned a junkyard and in a junk car i found a radio that was am/fm/weather and shortwave. My grandfather showed me how to tune in to the shortwave channels. Used to spend summer nights with that long ass antenna tweaking it around and hearing people blabbing in different languages and the static had this etheral spookiness to it. I suppose, as an adult, the world is my oyster and I should plunk down for a nice radio and get licensed and shit.

@Judge_Earl_P_Thayton My radio was nearly identical to this. I remember the wraparound info on the front and top. Every night with that thing until it just didn’t turn on anymore. Today version of me would have cracked it open to try and fix it!

@johnhattan @reverendrobodummy I watched a shit load of Bonanza with my Polish grandfather, who I swear watched it just to hate on Lorne Greene. I saw a lot of Lone Ranger too. The others from time to time.We had a Bonanza restaurant in Utica. Cafeteria style steakhouse that my grandparents enjoyed. There were pics from the show on the walls. @hobbs @johnhattan @reverendrobodummy Eventually, a competitor arose called Ponderosa. That was in Herkimer, a quarter of the distance as Bonanza and didn’t have pics of Lorne Greene on the wall. All wins for my grandfather who switched his Sunday post-church cafeteria steakhouse allegiance immediately. Got him home in time to watch wrestling, so another win. Same exact gnar food.

Important New Apartment event on deck: my bidet toilet seat is here and after a quick trip to the hardware store (slice of hell on a Saturday), I have a longer tube to connect it underneath the sink. Once I’m convinced there’s no leaks it will be time for the inaugural power-washing. Had had to use paper all week like an absolutely broke-ass peasant savage. That stops now.

It would be pretty inspiring to see if it were a free Beatles concert, but pretty unproductive at fighting against tyranny. Until they’re scared, they’re not going anywhere. They’ll jusy keep sending more bad guys in masks. At what point does this become obvious? They’ve won the fear game, that’s for sure.

@johnhattan I don’t blame you for walking from it. The meth sign doesn’t exactly invite day trippers to the property, however funny it is. My last hoa wouldn’t clean the rain gutters over my patio. Same shit… no money for that, also it never rains that hard in San Diego. Though they had a party with a dj that summer. Well, El Nino gave us hard rain, the gutters did not channel, my patio flooded and ruined some carpet. Had to lawyer up. Had the saved emails. Slam dunk, but pita all the same.

Installed a washer/dryer today. Paid for the install service, but it wasn’t on the form for the guy to do it. Slid dude a 20€ and he helped me get it on the stand but the hoses were too short to reach under the sink. And the drain tube was too short. Off to Toom (German Home Depot) and realized I left the drain tube at home, went home, got tube, went back and dude hooked me up, though I had to saw one of the tubes in half. Learned a lot today. I can install washers now. Fuck me running.

Also: we broke the bidet getting that heavy fkn thing over the toilet. Super stressed for space. If I didn’t put it on the stand, the washer door would hit the toilet. I fkn thought this through for a month now. Taking my lumps on the bidet. It was cheap. I’ll just get another one and own my failure. I won’t get mad today. Despite obdurate forces that feel otherwise. I won’t break. Now, off to Ikea for the boss fight.

Stoked the Winter Games start next Friday. I rode in a bobsled after the 1980 Lake Placid games, while living in upstate NY. We got to visit the olympic village, see the ski jump and do the bobsled run. It was all powerful fun times. Between that and webcasting the 2000 Sydney games, I have a fondness for the Olympics. Get ready for some motherfucking CURLING!
