I've said this before, and I will say it again: Massive single serveruptime is not your friend.Repeat after me: Kernel updates are there for a reason (I get at least one per month). That being said ... this is a unique way of going about it.Linux admin hated downtime so much he schlepped a live UPS during office movehttps://www.theregister.com/2025/11/21/on_call/?td=rt-3a

@elfin There are specially designed UPS tools for LEO to do a live extraction of your PC while it's running to maintain memory state until the PC can be analyzed in a lab environment.Basically, you connect a UPS to the same circuit / phase the PC is connected, then use a suicide cord to connect to the power strip or outlet where the PC is, then cut the PC away from the wall, outlet included.https://cdsg.com/products/hotplug-field-kitthere are even commercial versions of the male-male power cord that cost $600+ because LEO.

@elfin @kajer I thought the male-male power cords were straight up illegal to sell because they're against code. But also anyone can make one, just go to Ace Hardware and give them $5 for the male end, cut the female off the cord, connect the wires to your male end...
