@adam @dave @csb Are these requests to a lightning address or plain keysend payments?

@adam @dave @csb Payments to lightning addresses create an increased load on our server infrastructure, because of the high payment frequency in podcasting. That makes it difficult for us to reliably distinguish between spam and legitimate traffic, so some requests may get blocked accidentally.

@moritzk @dave @csb Do you consider many 1 sat payments spam?

@adam @dave @csb You can simply log into your Alby Account on getalby.com and follow the steps to reactivate your lightning address. For now, we’ve manually fixed it for the listed accounts above. We need to review and improve how we handle this volume of requests.

@adam AC, regarding your question “Do you consider many 1 sat payments spam?” the answer is: yez See attached picSince July 2025 the Alby Inc is considering 1 sat payments to be spam and not letting them through. It basically means:whole idea of streaming sats in value for value while listening to podcasts … is over. See:@moritzk @dave

@adam @dave @csb 1 sat payments are not spam. A lightning address resolves to a URL that gives you a BOLT11 invoice. This invoice will be paid in the ideal case. Or it won't be paid for different reasons. So we cannot know if there is a real payment intent behind a invoice request.

@dave @csb @adam that error was because if a hub is down or has issues while it gets many payment requests then it gets blocked for a while. Typical LNURL load so far looked differently than boost requests. We also adjusted this. what problems do you see?

@dave @csb @adam I don't think LNURL should cause any problems.

@bumi @csb @adam I think we will move to a self hosted regular node to keep from burdening your system with so many 1 sat boosts. The PI node volume is so high with tiny transactions.

@dave @bumi @csb @adam It’s worth understanding how much traffic hosted nodes on Alby and other wallet services can actually handle. If we all shift to LNURL, will bigger shows eventually need to run their own node? How big are we talking?
