       @0xabad1dea I've observed in recent years that most cashiers in the US nowadays can not make change for a cash payment without the register telling them how much it is. They're completely lost.As all cashiers were formerly expected to do this in their heads, almost immediately, and I used to work a register sometimes in my teens, this drives me bonkers.

       I’m being informed by the locals that Albert Heijn designs their cash registers with anti-theft features (such as preventing unlocking outside of business hours) that can also easily prevent them from being used normally if something goes sideways.
