The actual singularity I'm worried about is the coffee singularity building up on 9th South, here's the coffee shops I can think of that are on or very close to it, just between 200 W and 1300 E* Publik* Publik Kitchen* Coffee Garden* Loki* Legendarium* Beans and Brews* Leavity* Java Jo's* Bedlam* Tinker's Cat Cafe* La Barba* Blue Copper* Caffe Expresso* Dear Coco (honorary member)* Tea Grotto (honorary member)

@ricci At one point in Austin in the early tech boom days we had a Starbucks on three corners of an intersection and a Seattle’s Best on the fourth. It was really something.

@ricci sounds lovely! Starbucks killed all our locals, we've had some other chains come back now but none of the locals ever revived.

@ricci Loki being so close to Bedlam is indeed cause for end-times Singularity concerns ☕️

@ricci dolcetti has great coffee too. I love getting an affogato there. Or just an espresso with a macaron. The macarons were very good but I don’t think they make them anymore.

@mvexel yeah I had to confine myself to places that could reasonably be called coffee shops, if I let myself add in every place you might get coffee this list would have been even more gigantic

Ironically I think that’s where Starbucks was? Before my time in SLC.

@mvexel mmm I think so. Coffee garden used to be across the street where Childrens' Hour and Pago are now (and it used to have a plant shop attached, hence the name)

And a little further west there’s also woodbine which has old cuss inside (although maybe doesn’t count since it’s a block north of 9th) and 43 bakery, but they turned it into a restaurant, an odd decision if you ask me.
