I think people are getting the wrong lesson from AWS and Cloudflare outages. Yes, tech shouldn't be consolidated into near monopolies. But the real lesson is that consolidation is bad for *everything* in every industry. Monopolies are always bad. The capitalism that leads to monopolies is equally so. Important infrastructure of any kind should not be operated at the whim of capitalists. It should be public.

@JeremyMallin Some stuff like cloudflare is a thing that we normally don't need at all, neither as public nor private, as cloudflare. The mere existence of cloudflare is reslt of the fearmongering people of imminent DDoS attack towards their blog/cafe menu/butcher shop/tai chi school website.Yes, ddos attacks can happen sometimes, but should be less centralized site-specific ways to protect self for those who faced this on in group of the risk: activists, vulnerable people communities, etc.
