       @meowski I assume the labor market regularly fluctuates like every other market. When it's a seller's market you get complaints like this. When it's a buyer's market there's widespread angst about the state of the economy. Granted, 2022 is not part of a *natural* cycle, but the point kind of holds anyhow.It reminds me a bit of the "kids these days are soft" that people have been saying since the Roman empire.https://podcastindex.org/podcast/218305?episode=333039169

       @meowski The funniest example in that podcast was the same issue of the same newspaper had the children laborers unionizing and also an editorial about how kids are lazy.

       @meowski Well also being lazy about working for someone else can be a perfectly rational reaction. If people really *wanted* to do those jobs, you wouldn't have to pay them to convince them to do it.

       @john when you're not actively hunting and gathering for your next meal it's kind of easy to lose any sense of urgency about work
