@stux I don't think I have ever heard that the USA is the leading in a good way. But we do lead in a lot of ways.

@stux Near the end of September, there was a chase near me that started because the suspect was traveling at 161 km/h in a 113 km/h zone (reckless driving, which is either a Class 1 misdemeanor or Class 6 felony depending on circumstances) on an interstate. He accelerated to 209 km/h, passed through two towns, one of which being a 56 km/h zone and the other a 40 km/h zone, and it ended in a crash 40 km and 3 counties away. All parties involved were fortunately were not injured or killed.

@stux There are 5 different police departments that could have been called in with spike strips or stop sticks that could quickly deflate the suspect's tires: one for each of the 4 counties in which the chase took place and the Virginia State Police. It might be because this is from a small town newspaper so it wasn't reported, but there's nothing saying that such a thing was attempted
