People on Reddit seem to believe Apple will keep Rosetta 2 around. Look, the Intel emulation will die, as PPC died before it. Rosetta existed as a transition tech and it will go away, just like before. They do not care about your PC gaming on Mac. Apple does not carry a torch for legacy hardware/software. Send toot.

@jloc0@mastodon.sdf.orgI do not own any modern Macs, but from the sidelines this transition seems to go way smoother than it did with PowerPC, which was too abrupt: like, okay, you can have one more OS release and that's it — and this was 10.5 which was pretty half-arsed IMO.But yep, you are right — eventually it will die off, Apple doesn't care about legacy hardware too much — to the point that old software bugs never get proper fixes for older hardware.

@m0xEE I do agree, the last time was much more abrupt and messy. But everyone knew the writing was on the wall for PPC. Kids these days really think Apple is going to keep Rosetta around literally because and for their (Windows) games, and that’s just not going to happen. Their entire Game Porting Toolkit was to get game dev interest in the new platform, not to bring in a bunch of Windows gamers. They wanted native games, and to some extent, they got that.
