I will admit that I may not have all of the information, but I do not understand why everyone is so upset about #Threads federating. I thought the whole point of the Fediverse was to allow servers to connect, and the AP protocol allows us to block users or even move to an instance that blocks Threads. How is Threads any different than any other instance? I have control of my timeline, and Meta can only harvest data that I share publicly. What am I missing? @jmichaelsturm Hi, and welcome! The issue seems largely that Threads is a Meta Corp project, and in spite of their words, their actions are despicable and the opposite of open. They have been repeatably not trustworthy.
