       @eyeling I wonder if that dark violet center isn't actually any darker than the other colours, it's just ultraviolet. I know that some birds can see more UV than humans can (our vision drops off very quickly after violet, which is already outside the capabilities of most cameras). Crows, for example, are highly colourful with UV vision.
