“One gentailer CEO said, you couldn’t run an aeronautical operation the way we were running the power system… We do not have the security around electricity supply that we should have.”If only he knew someone who could have done something about that. #nzpol https://newsroom.co.nz/2025/10/24/smallest-company-looks-to-build-biggest-dammed-hydro-lake-nz-has-seen/

But Energy Minister Simon Watts tells Newsroom they haven’t rejected Lake Onslow out of hand; they’d be open to a fast-track application from the Lake Onslow consortium. “The fast-track legislation was put in place to help enable large scale infrastructure projects.”Bullshit. You shut down the feasibility study after most of the (small amount of) money had already been spent but before they could report back.Party of best economic management my arse, morons.

@Salty on the plus side David Parker is a stone cold legend. He stepped down rather than front Hipkins' tax back-down. Now outside government, he's rolling up his sleeves to help get essential renewable energy infrastructure built. There are precious few politicians I respect, but he's definitely one of them.@ClareBear
