I've been on the hunt for some accessible, easily self-hosted (on prem or datacenter) chat solution for a while now, and I've been looking very closely at deltachat/chatmail.Not gonna lie, the fact that just uses mature SMTP facilities for transport is making me weirdly aroused.If anyone has experience running their own chatmail server or just using deltachat in general, I'd be glad to hear from you.#DeltaChat #ChatMail #SelfHosted #HomeLab

@mr_daemon not sure if arousal is the aimed for response but I have been running my small server for 2 whole weeks and it has been 100% painless so far. It's more a relay than a server, it just passes messages along. You can use a **tiny** machine to serve thousands of users. Only thing you might need to add is more hdd for messages being held for secondary devices.my relay is open for anyone to use here: https://danneskjold.de

@bcAs3MQ2 @mr_daemon @wq o7 will do. currently deciding on a domain other than that ready to go. thanks to @feld for the inspiration on chef/cinc setup. which can work on a tunneled setup like my own.
