       it’s pretty empirically observable from a distance that it was DNS from the fact that Down For Everyone Or Just Me shows the last ten detected outages on the front page, and a slow but steady stream of catastrophes has been carouseling through the last two hours (rather than all blowing through simultaneously, for example if the datacenter lost power) as different DNS caches expire to discover the carpet yanked out from under them

       @chrisp @EndlessMason ultimately, that is true. But when everyone collocates at the same cheapest datacenter, 99.999% uptime results in the whole internet going down simultaneously.
