       I had an idea for a new service to offer with my company. I started reading some regulations and got a headache. I'm in favor of regulations that protect people, but when I see small businesses having to break their backs to comply with "legal compliance" while big tech does whatever they want (more or less openly), it's a bit demotivating...

       @stefano there's an entire industry of people wearing suits and ties dedicated to this very thing.  it's a headache but a necessary frustration

       @bencurthoys @stefano if you want to generate revenue via service/product/consultation and you have to operate within the boundaries of compliance platforms.  many compliance frameworks are overly-complex and need interpretation by someone trained on the matter.  short version: want to play, have to pay

       @jae @stefano you say that like the compliance frameworks are immutable and set in stone, and not conjured up with the stoke of a pen by some committee who just wants to go to lunch. My point is they are largely badly written, are largely not necessary, and should be changed. The process of changing the rules is called "politics". You don't have to just accept it.
