I don’t think #Framework understands that they _are_ a political brand. They don’t have the best products, and they don’t have the cheapest products. They have products that appeal to _political positions_. By trying to keep “politics” out of their decisions, what they’re saying is that the **literal only selling point** of their machines is no longer valid. It’s incredibly sad to see, because I was a fan of Framework until I saw this atrocious response.https://community.frame.work/t/framework-supporting-far-right-racists/75986/2

why is it that anytime an open source projects smells money, it immediately turns to shit and self-destructs? To me, framework now just sounds like any other corpo shithole that will talk the most HR-correct speak yet do the most deplorable things. Framework saying they care about people aligning with their goals is straight bogus at this point; they completely forgot what those goals were in the first place. Can't say I wasn't expecting this though.

@hperrin from their response I take it to mean that they are single issue focused (e-waste).

@shironeko Yeah, that’s the problem. I don’t only care about e-waste, and I’d rather buy a better laptop if I have to buy from a company that supports fascists.

@hperrin then I don't understand how you were a fan in the first place, their whole shtick was about e-waste?

@shironeko They appealed to two positions for me, environmentalism and right-to-repair. I think taking care of the environment is important, and I think repairable products are important. But way more than either of those two, I think denouncing fascism is important. That is the _most_ important issue to me. If Framework can’t do that when asked, then I can’t support them.

@shironeko I don’t understand. They never said they explicitly supported fascists before this. I would assume that any reasonable person would be horrified if someone pointed out that they were accidentally supporting a fascist. Their response is not one of horror, but one of apathy. They don’t care who they support as long as they’re an open source developer. Well, I care. If their big tent welcomes fascists, then it doesn’t welcome me.

@hperrin All important (& some unimportant) decisions are political.Everyone who insists otherwise is merely the person/entity in power in the given situation.Cc: @cwebber
