Yeah I don't think so. 55mph traffic, semis, no shoulder, "share the road" sign isn't going to hack it. Also officially a state highway. The other side (with barriers and no shoulder);is marked as a bike route too. #BikeTooter

24 minutes (or less, before you are dead) if you are bicycling this route.

@ai6yr How so? I see a shoulder. You do need to worry about people pulling trailers in situations like that, for sure.

@alrs LOL it's ultra hazardous for motorists there, even.

@ai6yr I'd ride that any day. 50mph #cycling hell can be found on Sunset near UCLA.

@alrs Ooh, I'm familiar with that stretch of Sunset. It's slower traffic there though.

@ai6yr People at night are doing 50+. The city bus drivers are known to get into some crazy high-speed leans through there. There is no shoulder. They are coming around blind turns. It's the route from the fancy clubs back to where the rich people live.

@ai6yr I rode up the 101 between Ventura and SB back before the path was in, when you had to take every off-ramp, and come back up every on-ramp. Wayyyyy safer than Sunset over there.

@alrs @ai6yr I don't even like to *cross* Sunset. (I worked nearby at one time.) It's one of LA's oldest streets, and the property is worth too much for the residents to give up an inch. Stick to the Westwood/Wilshire side.

@keraba @ai6yr I will and I do ride Sunset all the way from downtown out to West Hollywood on the regular. That BH stretch is the one place in LA I won't ride.

@keraba @ai6yr Sunset in my neighborhood has been here since 1904. https://www.theeastsiderla.com/lifestyle/history/a-look-into-landslides-reveals-sunset-boulevard-s-rocky-past/article_774aded0-d482-5bc9-aa97-6834cf4f83bd.html
