wait. I extracted a 30 FPS video that was 03:39 long, resulting in 6572 frames. 6572/60 is 3 with 39 left over, so that all tracks.I then told ffmpeg to combine those extracted images back together at 30 fps, and I got back a video that's 04:22. at 30 fps? something's fucky

the former is taking in a set of PNGs at THE DEFAULT FRAMERATE OF 25 FPS and then resampling that 25 FPS video to 30 FPSthe later imports the PNGs at 30 FPS, which is the thing I was trying to do in the first place

@anselmschueler oh this was caused by a different problem, not framerates. I wrote some code to display the time by pulling tiles out of a screenshot of notepad running on win98, and my code was cropping it at the wrong locations

@foone generate a .mkv file, you don't need to finish letting the file be written to view those like you do mp4also use -t to generate just the first few seconds, or -ss (after the input files) to start later in the video.

@foone if you have vlc you should be able to open the video in that and it will pick up the subtitle file if it has the same name so you can see the timing. (or you can add the subtitle track manually if not)Probably some other players too but I don't know which ones.
