86box's "mount a host folder as if it was a CD-ROM" feature is really handy for getting data into VMs

the shitpost is feature-complete, I just decided to stick some extra feature-creep on the end.

and I've got some sub-second subtitle timing issues. that wouldn't be bad but it's on the first two lines, which is the really obvious ones

FUCK I can't get the first line right. It's not made any better by the fact it takes like 3 minutes to regenerate the file to see if it is timed right

@foone generate a .mkv file, you don't need to finish letting the file be written to view those like you do mp4also use -t to generate just the first few seconds, or -ss (after the input files) to start later in the video.

@wyatt the subtitle is being sucked into a bunch of python subtitle rendering code I made, it's not as simple as just having subtitles in the file, sadly

@foone if you have vlc you should be able to open the video in that and it will pick up the subtitle file if it has the same name so you can see the timing. (or you can add the subtitle track manually if not)Probably some other players too but I don't know which ones.

@foone ngl I lookup ffmpeg commands for every effin call. The number of deleted GB sized video files is damn too high

@foone I was all ready to make a guess about 30 vs 29.97 frame rates but I should have known the answer would be more cursed.Of *course* the default is European lol

@walnut I think what happened is that they're saying that because they're not the one with the slow computer: they got this video from someone else, who had the slow computer.
