Need help again! I found a new kitty. So I bought it home. Now I want to keep it. But I cat is constantly trying to attack the kitty. It gets super angry. And to make things worse the kitty wants to sleep in my cats bed. What should I do? #askfedi #catsofmastodon

@Stomata keep the new kitty in a separate room with its own amenities for a while. Possibly a werk or two. The separation will allow existing cat to grafually get used to the scent while avoiding territorialism from sight. After a few days of isolation, try rubbing new kitty with a towel or blanket, then leave that somewhere old cat can find it to allow more scent familiarity. Introduce them very very slowly after isolation period.

@Stomata When this happened here (when my father found a second cat and brought it home) the old cat also was not amused. If they're not fighting for a moment, try getting between them and petting them both at the same time so the older one understands you still love him. Then the jealousy will eventually subside. I think it took less than a week until they got along.
