       @Blackgendermoderate @EatKnitSleepAgain @virvallis Yeah, I mean even though it looks creepy and sounds creepy, people actually ate these types of foods. They had to get creative during wartime when the economy wasn't good.There is a page on FB called June Cleaver's Vintage Closet and she actually makes these vintage buffet foods and has her husband try them. Some he says are actually good, but some are grotesque lol.

       @FemaleIsNotAFeeling @Blackgendermoderate @virvallis I used to have one of Marguerite Patten's books of recipes from WWII. Many of the recipes were about making a tiny quantity of meat or eggs go a very long way. Our favourite was the rosehip syrup, which was made as a way of making sure everyone got their vitamin c when citrus fruit couldn't be imported. I still make that sometimes.
