Honestly, I'm surprised that Best Buy has stayed afloat as long as they have.Aside from competing with other big stores like Walmart and Target, they also have to compete with online heavyweights like Amazon.Geek Squad was the human factor that customers want when needing tech support. Something that Walmart and Target don't really excel in and something websites like Amazon completely lack. With Geek Squad folding, the days are numbered IMO.https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2025-09-24/best-buy-s-latest-layoffs-hit-geek-squad-team

For the Best Buy in my town, I have no idea how they sell enough or provide enough service to pay for the building expenses alone, never mind employees... but they stay open. When it comes to repair services, anyone who can figure out how to search for online review and read them would most likely stay away from Best Buy as our store has quite bad reviews and there are local competitors (including me) that have very good reviews.
