#Trump's #fascism is characterising #autism as an illness, while many autistics feature as outstanding figures in numerous fields, including during the fight against #Hitler in WWII. #science #Farage is a mini-me Trump and will keep following his lead. #ReformUK

@happyborg But what are the consequences?Autism is definitely a disorder, even if I as a high-functioning autist am only just recently realising how much it disables me.

@light #Fascism? Pretty sure it's race-centric #nationalism with no democracy or freedom to say much to criticize the regime. If I'm wrong, it should be too far off-track.

@realcaseyrollins >no democracy or freedom to say much to criticize the regimeThe US seems to be moving in that direction from my vantage point here in the UK.https://www.thefire.org/newsTrump's lawsuits. His and the FCC's jawboning of ABC. The political deportations. Etc.>race-centric #nationalism Idk about this one. Republicans don't like immigrants, but generally just illegal immigrants IIRC. And I don't think it's race-centric.

@light I think when it comes to speech, we're not in the greatest place, but that is due to the behaviors of individuals, esp. violent ones, not anything that the #USA's federal government has done. I am not particularly concerned about repercussions against people who are supporting violence and terrorism. If you think citizens should be able to do so (the front page of #FIRE is focused on those stories), I respect that take, but I do think violence is the line of what should be tolerated./1

@light #Racism is and probably always will be a problem in the #USA to some degree. However, when it comes to the federal government, we're not seeing the race-centric language one would expect of a state steeped in #fascism.

@realcaseyrollins @light wWe didn't let Africans in to the US, even when we were still colonies of Britain. No, we brought them here in ships after we kidnapped them for the slave trade. No one is innocent. Now with all this money rolling around, enough for a trillion dollar war budget, what about reparations? Should you have to ask? I don't think so.The only reason you should have to ask for reparations is willful stupidity, like the willful stupidity of the Nazi #Ukraine project or #Israel

@cy I'm struggling to think of any cases over the past few years that peaceable assemblies that didn't impede road or foot traffic were obstructed in the #USA. Same goes for petitions.

@realcaseyrollins @light@noc.social>If you think citizens should be able to [support violence and terrorism] [...], I respect that take, but I do think violence is the line of what should be tolerated.I agree with you. The First Amendment (at least according to #FIRE's podcast So To Speak, which I have listened to quite a few episodes of) does allow that, however. When the KKK were around, the courts allowed them to promote violence against black people; and because of that black nationalists and supremacists were allowed to say violent things about white people in turn. IIRC.>I am not particularly concerned about repercussions against people who are supporting violence and terrorism. Was Rümeysa Öztürk supporrting violence and terrorism? As far as I'm aware she wrote a perfectly peaceful anti-Israel article in her university newspaper.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Detention_of_R%C3%BCmeysa_%C3%96zt%C3%BCrk

Think unions, protests. Vietnam. Oil pipelines. 16 years after the first amendment, the government was all ready to trump up charges of coercion, violence, and conspiracy to destroy the first union in the USA. The whole thing about road and foot traffic is also about false charges. They're blocking a road with no traffic? Oh no they're blocking traffic!"or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, except if it blocks traffic" - the USA Constitution

@cy > "or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, except if it blocks traffic" - the USA ConstitutionThis but unironically. Don't block the road, and don't block the sidewalks. If that's hard for you to do while assembling peaceably, you belong in jail if not a mental hospital 😂

Peaceably assembling people ARE traffic, and if it's hard for them not to block the road, that means there are many of them, which means what they are protesting is legit and shouldn't be suppressed. Laws against blocking traffic were established to crush unions, by enabling scabs to cross picket lines. If you're filling the streets, then you have more right to be there than the sellouts trying to stab you in the back!
