Because what makes these things horrifying is that people are committing them.Because What a monster does doesn't challenge our thoughts on humanity. Because monsters aren't human.If aliens did a precise replication of what Israel is doing in Gaza to, say, London, that wouldn't challenge how we view ourselves. "It's just aliens," we say. "Could never be us."Similarly for genociders. If we make them not-people, we pave the way for more.
