Is the thought of switching clubs perhaps too overwhelming?Don't fret! Our docs have a guide on migrating repositories from other Git hosting platforms: https://docs.codeberg.org/advanced/migrating-repos/#migrating-from-services

@Codeberg It turns out I was right switching to self hosted when Microsoft bought GitHub because they're unethical. Way before AI was added into everything

@Codeberg Sadly not much will change I’m afraid. Just like when M$ bought github. However, now at least there is a large dedicated, community driven, user first, instance so unlike the time when people could choose between gitlab (not that much better) or obscure instances scattered around the net, there is a chance more people will just move. Specially that forgejo and folks at codeberg are rather competent bunch. BTW what’s the state of forgejo fediverse features?

@muppeth For a roadmap and active discussions, see: https://codeberg.org/forgejo-contrib/federation Tasks currently being worked on are federated follow activities and published activities, plus some UX. You can look those up under: https://codeberg.org/forgejo/forgejo/pulls

@Codeberg @muppeth Hm, so federated PR, the main actually needed feature, is "far future" :/Didn't even find federated issues on the roadmap. It sounds like forgejo is adding "Mastodon lite"

@piggo @muppeth Can't work on the cool things without doing the groundwork first. That's also the reason why the first step was federated stars – one has to adjust a fork of a project of a fork of another project with more than a decade of history. That'd be a problem, no matter the protocol chosen. ~n

@piggo @muppeth By working on federated stars, one made massive adjustments to profiles, got Forgejo instances to talk one another (with the potential of other forges being able to talk to Forgejo instances), introduced complex test suites, signed activities...The steps may appear small, but they are actually much more involved than they look. But indeed, it will take some time. ~n
