Mega Man: Dr. Wily's Revenge for the Game Boy is the first handheld title of the franchise. The decision to release a Game Boy incarnation of the series came after the release of Mega Man 3 on the NES. 💥The game reuses stage components, enemies and robot masters from the first two NES games. 🤖Developed by Minakuchi Engineering it was the first Mega Man game to be outsourced to a developer separate from Capcom.🧵1/2#RetroTrivia #retrogaming #gaming #games #videogames #MegaMan #Capcom

Mega Man II is the second game in the handheld series. Like its predecessor the game marries features of two consecutive NES titles, in this case Mega Man 2 and 3.This time Capcom outsourced the development to Thinking Rabbit, inexperienced in developing such games. Due to its bland level design and poorly optimized soundtrack it's considered the weakest of the five handheld titles. As a result the sequels returned in the hands of Minakuchi Engineering.🧵2/2#RetroTrivia #retrogaming #gaming

@repeatro Nice trivia! I had no idea that these games were outsourced. The first Mega Man game for Game Boy was the only one that I ever owned as a kid. I had several friends that were really into Mega Man and I loved watching them play the games but myself, I couldn't do it. I found them so crushingly difficult that I actually broke my first Game Boy in a fit of rage over the game. Lol It was at that point I decided I would appreciate the Mega Man games through others.
