       @annaleen For ants, especially those in nests with many "surplus" workers doing tasks is something they fight over ... with older workers winning out if the task involves any danger as it's best for the colony if younger workers stay inside. I've often seen a young worker carrying an item ... only to have it taken by an older worker.
