       open the #bandwagon app or go to bandwagon.app (or so many other sites/apps cause it was built FOSS).search for a band or click a fedi link (or even click what's displayed while listening to independent online radio ala @ryno in the app etc). see their account even if it is on #mirlo or #faircamp etc.easily buy their music (or mark it and donate).have it added to my "music collection" and play it from the app or the website now and/or later.that's the decentralized music future I want.

       @wjmaggos@liberal.city now imagine all of that, but you need only one account to interact with each of those sites, an account that is entirely decoupled from a server admin or a domain name registrar, that you can generate yourself on your terms with a handheld or computer. That's nostr for you.

       @setto we should talk. re this and much else.my sense on nostr is that it won't do moderation well and it will always be extra confusing. servers and accounts ala AP are something most people can now get their heads around. you just have to explain that social media can be like email etc.

       @wjmaggos@liberal.city sure! Maybe Sunday evening? (Prolly noon for you)Regarding moderation, you are assuming it is peer-to-peer. Identity is permissionless, relays are not. Relays are exactly like fediverse servers, relay admins can moderate all they want, they can grant or deny access. They can even charge you for access, natively. But unlike fediverse, they can't invalidate a person's entire digital identity and social graph.
