       So, I just read the latest Your Local Epidemiologist newsletter, which discussed that the U.S. FDA is expected to license the 2025-6 #covid vaccine this Friday or soon after, and likely restricted to people 65+ and "high risk" people. Given that, the newsletters recommendation is: ❗ "if you’re under 65 and not high risk, the window to get a Covid-19 vaccine is right now—before the FDA label changes. Once it happens, access will be limited immediately (if it isn’t already).https://yourlocalepidemiologist.substack.com/p/covid-19-vaccine-label-change-alphaSo to guard against whether or not I'll be able to get that high risk designation, I started calling pharmacies in my mid-size city. Most of the say on their website that covid vax appointments are available now via appointment or walk-in. After navigating their phone robots in order to talk to actual pharmacists, here's what I found about the current (2024-5) vaccine availability here:All the Walgreens: totally outAll the Walmarts: totally outAll the Health Marts: totally outCVS: outIndy pharmacy #1: totally outIndy pharmacy #2: one single dose remaining [this, and the other places, said they won't be ordering more til the 2025-6 vax is available for them)I gave up, but then got a callback from a CVS inside Target (their phone system literally doesn't let you talk to a human, only leave a message). They have "a few" doses left. So that's where I'm headed, I guess.Not only are all these places just not bothering to keep stock of the vax for the biggest plague in our lifetime, they also are giving on their websites (and giving via their phone voice robots!) complete disinformation about availability, and not a single person bothered to mention to me how severely the 2025-6 vax is likely to be limited.Y'all..... we are, and continue to be, so fucked

       update: got to Target and I got the LAST covid vax dose they had (they said they're gonna order more this week tho) so idk maybe Target is a decent place to find em still?
