@Hoss @Forestofenchantment it didn't have a comment system in the first five minutes, and then it didn't have subreddits for a while, and then it only had a few big ones. Reddit's compelling features were that Paul Graham gave it a bunch of attention that translated into some very interesting links, and that you could say 'fuck' and have deeply threaded conversations without having to deal with the very low-effort comment systems that websites had.By 2008 it had shadowbans and the start of the faggot mod alliance, and by 2012 the firewall against the politics subreddit ever being good ever again had been completed, and then the rot just ran its course without restraint.
