@CursedSilicon if a gradeschool teacher had given you social permission to hate on some other dubious label, like "un-welcome-ists", you'd beat this version of yourself to death.

@MontgomeryGator @CursedSilicon @futurebird >Their only other commentyou're fediblocking me and making analyses in ignorance of that. You're lobotomized yourself and are happy about it.You're also using 'singular they', which is worse than any enemy-identification label that you use for no other reason but to indulge in wrath, like a man indulging too much in lust. Your fight against 'nazis' like the OP's fight against 'fascism' is only an act of masturbation, which is why you see it so eagerly in other people.

@francisscottkey old people die easily from losing muscle that isn't used in routine life, that then isn't available to recover from a stumble or to absorb an impact. /fit/ guys are most likely population to know this, be willing to point it out, and be a useful perspective on correcting it.There are risks ("you can fix it with steroids!", "join my crossfit club"), but they're at least different risks.

@NothingToSeeHere no, what Harold is doing here is exchanging an easy problem for a hard one. Milk is a 10 min walk down the street, but Harold doesn't want to get the milk without his "milk-getting hat" and that hat is in a landfill on the other side of the city, so when asked to get milk, Harold goes to the landfill instead of the convenience store. Ten years pass and he still has no milk.Harold: we shouldn't let these snakes run things. Look how corrupt they are! Look what crimes they're CURRENTLY committing RIGHT NOW!Normie: woah, dude, talk like that is how the Holocaust happened.Harold (easy): no, I'd say that behavior like theirs is how it happened, and if that bothers you, stopping their abuses is also how you prevent another backlash like that.Do you want to talk about the thing at hand, do you want to talk about what can be done now, do you want to talk about people living today, or do you want to defend the honor of the German army? The latter takes so long and is so failure prone that if you insist on doing it, you'll never actually get to talking about any contemporary issues that anyone may actually change. You should talk about the Holocaust if it interests you, among interested parties, the same as any bit of ancient history. It's malicious encouragement to say that you must talk about the Holocaust just to have a discussion about "bandits and assassins and squatters".

Thanks to Trump it's cheaper to fly to Japan, shop locally, and then smuggle the goods back without disclosure, than to import the same products. Not immediately. It's not cheaper to fly to pick up a box of pocky. But the curves pass incredibly quickly.

@teto on Al Udeid Airbase in Qatar, decades ago, the only water on tap was non-potable. Even to brush your teeth, you needed to go to one of the ubiquitous refrigerators and grab a free water bottle.I thought this was only a bit absurd at the time (especially in that the base exchange sold water bottles - covered in dust, obviously, and filled with visible plastic shavings), but the country's going that way.Coke on tap? We barely have plumbing for water, with public restrooms heavily restricted or permanently closed due to homeless people. Even public parks will have some horrifying port-a-potties parked outside the locked restrooms. And does it even count as water if an Israeli company is getting rid of some useless industrial waste via that same water?

@Terry >deliver the US a crippling strategic defeat>wait guys, you're short-sighted if you want to accept the defeatthe cost isn't going down. At every stage we would've eaten less dirt from not going forward with the doomed war. At every stage we chose to be "long-sighted" in this manner, we made the problem worse. If you want to be long-sighted, look past the dollar. The American population isn't going to turn into smoke. We have all of these incredible technological advancements, right? Use that. Ask AI how to arrest everyone involved with the Federal Reserve.

More than a hundred years ago, a popular improvement to responsiveness with online computer games was to reduce your OS's MTU size, so that the game would send more frequent and smaller TCP packets, rather than batching them as a throughput optimization.I don't care about faster downloads, man, I care about ONLINE LAG.In the decades since, all of mankind seems to have performed this optimization on the human brain. And in professional and social life, I'm frequently irritated by people who communicate to me in very small packets. In turn I irritate people with very large packets. In general my frustration is this message:>heywith nothing after. I have to respond just to hear what this guy actually wants from me. Why don't you just say it? Why don't you provide a complete technical question, that I could just answer? Why are you wasting everyone's time?I made some kind of a wish on a monkey's paw when I wanted more responsive games.
