I have just seen the most insane "scam alert" post on marketplace. Some kid is buying bikes off people then reselling them for a profit, someone he bought a bike from is losing their mind and saying "he basically stole this bike from me"Facebook brain is real and must be studied.

I dunno, it's poorly worded, but people get understandably upset when they are lied to and ripped off. I'd be upset too if I got tricked into selling a $2800 bike for $1800. That's what "low balling" means is buying something for less than its worth, b/c the buyer doesn't know its worth until after the sale. What makes this complaint Facebook brained is it's only a ripoff if there is not "a lot of repair work" needed. A guy flipping bicycles (or houses) without doing anything is a scam artist. A guy repairing and renovating stuff before selling it is fine, and the buyer should be happy they got a broken bicycle off their hands for $1800.

@cy no one is being forced to sell anything to anyone here, these people took a 'lowball' offer because they couldn't get a better one. This kid is willing to sit on these bikes at a higher price and take the risk they don't sell. No one has been lied to or "ripped off"

That's making a lot of assumptions there. If I trick you into selling something too cheaply, I still get the bike, you get ripped off, and everyone looks at it and says "well you weren't FORCED to sell anything!" I'm not saying anyone was tricked or deceived here, just that I don't know enough to say it was a fair trade.

@cy lmao how is someone "tricked" into selling something too cheaply? You either accept the deal or you don't.

If I sell you a rock, and then find out it's a diamond, and you knew that and didn't tell me, I'd be very strongly motivated to ruin your day.
