I've found myself watching that gay digital circus show because my brain can instantly analyze and repair the stupid fanfic/Scandinavian-grade barely-english hyper-obvious broken dialogue in real-time, and it makes me feel smart.This is a skill born of an agonizing lifetime spent writing substandard webcomics while running on fumes. I can literally sense when other writers don't have anything to say and they're just filling for time.

@jerkdouglas I've had a few long, passionate conversations with my friends about the show and its missed potential (and the gun models in the most recent episode, strangely). I'm happy that indie animations can exist and succeed but all the gay zoomerlennial writing really puts me off of it.

@Hephaestic It is nice, but yes, it's also insultingly dumb, and seriously erodes one's dignity to consume it uncritically. This supernatural tolerance for shit is all the fault of modern anime dubs in my opinion. They've distorted what kids should understand as a genuine performance.

@jerkdouglas @Hephaestic Adult Swim. How many shows either jumped the shark in Season 1, or were total garbage to begin with? Also interspersed with dubbed anime. It was a matter of time before some theater kid took her Deviantart scribbles and turned them into a seven-figure contract with Netflix.

@jerkdouglas @Hephaestic They had Cowboy Bebop, which is honestly a masterpiece (if you want to talk about jumping the shark, see what Shinichi Watanabe's been up to recently) but a lot of the anime they did broadcast was pretty weak, too

@jerkdouglas @mrsaturday @Hephaestic Lazarus spoilers:I hated how the characters uniformly fawned over Skinner despite him nearly dooming the world via mass murder. There seemed to be only one perspective for his actions: "Hmm, humans ARE pretty bad, so maybe we deserve this." It also seemed to be assumed that the pain killer was universally used as a recreational drug. How many people that had no safe pain killers were being condemned as equivalent to junkies? Wow, a humanity without pain is just too immoral to live, shame on you people with chronic illnesses who don't want to suffer, you're just as bad as the drug addicts who just like to party! And I hated the writers for using authorial fiat to impose his prognostications as correct. None of these people will apologize (If they're alive) or face any punishment or sanction when their predictions based on crooked science fail to pan out and the Maldives and Obama's beachfront house don't sink into the ocean.I also hated how none of the characters (Yes I know they had a contrived reason why later) all took Hapna. After the clot shot disaster you'd think there'd be some understanding that even if you try to FORCE people to take something a good 50% or more of the population will resist, so how many people are really going to take some shady 'miracle drug.' Especially from our group of misfits and ne'er do wells. Apparently in 25 years being an outcast means trusting institutions implicitly.Even the super soldier guy was dumb and required forcing the 'elite team' into doing retarded shit so he could wipe them out single-handedly. It feels like the audience for this show would play a lot of Call of Battlefield or whatever and would have some basic understanding that everyone running into an unsecured room at the same time puts their intelligence somewhere lower than house plants.tbh I was surprised they didn't go with a countdown to the last second and then handwave the logistics of the cure's fabrication and distribution. They beat the clock, the world is saved! :brainlet: tl;drbad show, did not like
