The best way to organise yourself, your todos, your ideas, your plans, your life is still a paper notebook and a BIC 4 colour pen. It’s the hill I’m willing to die on. It gives you privacy. Ownership. Time to reflect. The physical experience makes it so worthwhile.

@jwildeboer Its not just those reasons, which would be enough! We're organic organisms. We're a system. Thinking, internal dialog, your hand writing, your thoughts slowed to writing or drawing speed, your eyes following what you are writing, each of these amplifies and feeds back on the process itself. There has *never* been a piece of software that can do what s dumb pencil on paper can do. Text, graphics, lines, metaphor plots, no side distractions of dialog boxes or modes, brain to paper paper to eyes.

@tomjennings @jwildeboer I like 4 coloured pens. But I'm not a very legible writer. And for important things, I do like digital benefits like:Structuring notes in a tree to help me navigate to any topic.Having automatic backups for peace of mind.Copy pasting in and out to other places.Having this same info on every big screen PC, and the phone for when I'm out.Taking a picture and pasting it right in the right note, where it will be seen. All encrypted.

@ianp5aLol, besides occasional notes, I usually sketch visualizations, of data, or metal to bend, using pencil and lots of eraser, save about 10% of them, and nothing is encrypted.

@tomjennings Yes. Rough sketches on scrap paper are great. I'll use 2D Inkscape or 3D CAD if I need to keep something. But doodling is also fun.
