Liberals are dissidents. They speak out against all sides as appropriate. Sometimes that's the establishment, sometimes that's your "own side".I hate that liberal has lost this meaning. That many now think it means exactly the opposite of that. That the left calls people to the right of themselves and/or those who support the Dem establishment liberal. And the right uses the term for everybody left of themselves, seeing little disagreement among that huge death of people.#LiberalValues

@wjmaggos I'd like "liberal" to mean someone who is particularly concerned with freedom, social, political and economic. But unfortunately in English words change meaning according to their usage.

@mpjgregoire but don't we still agree on what illiberal means? and the liberal arts. wanting to figure out the truth and the best answers in open dialogue.I've never understood how you can support that but then also think any laws (that don't impact that directly) are off limits. the people might decide markets should be somewhat government managed or people shouldn't have the right to use speech to intimidate others etc.

@wjmaggos You may just be the last remaining "liberal" who still supports the authoritarian progressive woke billionaire-controlled Democrat party. Presumably, you still support them due to 50+ years of inertia from back when the party actually was liberal.All the other true liberals have seen the party for what it is. Corrupt, and, dare I say it, fascist.
