       @kaia My mom is notoriously bad at bookmarking things she wants to buy. Instead she would go to her webmail page and wait for the thing she remembered to scroll past in banners. (Which somehow kept working with uncanny consistency.)I now took away the banners and set up a history profile I can look through, if she needs to find something.Find what service the ads provided for him and seek an alternative. Even if it's just him scrolling through the amazon feed for the suggestions. Playing Candy Crush for the flashy animations, or using a history/bookmark manager to find that thing he saw last week.The ads fulfill a need to them.

       @kaia@brotka.st @Nicro@fedi.absturztau.beYou can always restore the stock ROM, but I'd definitely try some alternatives first — because what I think what he actually misses is the recommendations that used to work and indeed be something of interest, nowadays they most often lure you into things you never wanted in the first place 🤷
