       I'm thinking of hosting my own fedi instance.I have the cheapest possible VPS and I don't have much money to spend on additional resources.I heard Mastodon is heavyweight.GoToSocial and Snac2 seem to be lightweight, but if I would feel the need to contribute to them I wouldn't want to, because one is in Google's language (which I don't want to invest time in to learn) and the other is under a weak license. Same for Misskey (microsoft's TypeScript).Also, my VPS is running #YunoHost so I'm a bit limited by what is already packaged.So I might go for #Pleroma.#SelfHosting

       @cosminI just did this with Mastodon, but the storage requirements can be a lot. Using S3 helped. Good luck with the project!

       @cosminHard to quantify generally but in my case, after following all the hashtags I want via FediBuzz mine grew to about 250GB. With data retention set to 14 days. YMMV ofc. I reverse proxy back to my homelab server so space isn't too much of an issue. Sizing your VPS would need monitoring though.
