I hope it is clear to Democratic governors that they don't need to just threaten and make motions towards Protective Partisan Redistricting (PPR) but they need to just do it. Even if the gambit in Texas fails for their governor. If denying quorum stops this, that is no reason to stop PPR. If that means CA and NY do it and Texas does not, well, then maybe don't start that fight. On a national level they are outnumbered and it's not one they can win. Choices have prices.

@futurebirdI agree. If they object, the solution is simple: nationwide fair redistricting by act of Congress.

@futurebird Colorado went 54-42 in the popular vote and is 5-3 for House seats. We could easily redistrict to get 6-2, Texas style.

@futurebird Every state is different, and it’s not easy to do everywhere. Here in Washington for example, we have a constitutional amendment mandating a bipartisan redistricting commission. That was done in the 1980s and it is really tough to amend the constitution in our state. It can’t be done with a referendum. Despite a solid majority in the legislature, Democrats don’t have the votes for an amendment. I’m curious to see how many blue states could even manage to do it.

@futurebird “ On a national level they are outnumbered and it's not one they can win”I’m not following (or I’m misunderstanding)….how is it that they could not win at a national level?
