       @foone I don't think Google can't figure that out, I think Google has figured out that they way they're doing it generates more short-term revenue from their actual customers—advertisers and those who buy your data—at the expense of your satisfaction.It's the same playbook they pulled when they made search worse in order to drive more clicks to sponsored links: In a word, enshittification.

       @foone I'm pretty sure that the algorithm WAS capable of doing that most of the time. I don't know why they worsened it, recommending these in order seems like a good way to keep watchtime up.

       @foone I was listening to a Rock 'n Roll playlist on Youtube, where it would play a commercial before each song.After it played La Bamba, the next two commercials were in Spanish.

       @foone As others pointed out, this is by design. For the same reason the milk is always at the very back of the grocery store.Remember the old adage "never attribute to malice what can be attributed to stupidity?" Yeah so naive we used to be.

       @foone what’s interesting is that it does know better. And sometimes does the right thing.I suspect it chooses not to on purpose, because other signals tell it recommending something else is statistically more profitable.
