Women shouldn't drive. Women shouldn't drive. Women shouldn't drive. Rules will always have their exceptions, but WOMEN SHOULDN'T DRIVE.My older boys (and two of my nephews) were in a car accident yesterday. BFF/ex-SIL's little sister was driving. They are okay.Based on the damage to the car, the other driver was most likely speeding, which isn't cool, sure. BUT.1. You have to expect other drivers will be speeding.2. I'm pretty sure, because I know how she is (very typical distractable timid early 20's girl), she probably pulled up to her stop sign (cross-traffic had no stop sign), looked left (clear), looked right (clear), HESITATED, then proceeded to *crawl* forward into the intersection. Failed to check her left side again and didn't GO when it was actually clear. That's why the truck that mangled the front end of the car "came out of nowhere."It could have been so much worse. They'll all be a little sore, but hopefully that's the extent of it.This is hard for me because I ALREADY had reservations about anyone other than a tiny handful of people driving my kids around. I didn't even know she was driving them until she called home and my husband came and told me the kids had been in an accident and he was going to go pick them up. BFF's husband (honorary BIL) was supposed to be driving them to an activity, but I guess he was tired. That kind of goes along with my judgy-judgy feelings about how they raise their kids. They didn't exactly raise her, but they *kind of did* and actually they adopted her when ex-MIL died (she was 15-16). They've been the ones overseeing her driver's education, licensing, etc. She's a very new driver. She's kinda scared of driving. I never would have handed her that responsibility. I also wouldn't put a distractable 10 year old boy in charge of supervising a naughty 3 year old outdoors because I was busy with something else. But that's how things go here. It's convenient to hand their responsibilities off to the kids, so they do. No proof of competence needed. And "it will be fine" - UNTIL IT ISN'T. :acat:

In other news, my oldest who was in the front passenger seat, took an airbag to the face, and got to watch the front-end get wrecked, came home telling me kinda wants to be a demolition derby driver. lmao(I suspect he will be a good driver)
