Boyfriend had a fun IT problem today I was able to solve with some 2010-style ssh tunnel trickery!He wants to develop web app on his macbook. But app backend needs to read from a postgres db server, which is only accessible via VPN on a Windows laptop controlled by his employer (they don't issue macbooks)Solution: reverse ssh tunnel from Ubuntu VM on the Windows laptop opening a local port on the macbook which routes back through the tunnel to the db`ssh -R 5432:dbhost:5432 macbook`

@evan haha, I thought of this method before reading the "solution" part :)Same trick works also if you have an unexposed postgres in a docker container on a server. You can forward ports with ssh and connect to a remote db with something like pgadmin.

@evan by the way, do you know any good autpssh alternatives for windows? I want something that will reconnect ssh tunnels in case of interruptions.

@yura I don't really know much windows IT stuff sadly, I'd just do everything in WSL if I had to work with a windows machine xD

@evan It's a self-hostable reimplementation of the Wireguard network
