It makes a lot of good points. People in various FOSS communities have gone after several other people for things that weren't illegal, like Eich's moral and political beliefs.Bicha is listed as a sexual predator. If you read the court documents, what he did was horrible (raped both his sisters and even cut them with knives for years). He is literally allowed to continue speaking at conferences that offer child care to attendees.

I also find it interesting you're at the conference and haven't even heard of this until now. Posts and comments about his ethical behavior have been censored on Hackernews, phoronix and various mailing lists. Why are people at this conferences actively shielding this person?I bet you anything if you were to ask questions, there would be a very good chance you'd be asked to leave over Code of Conduct violations.

@djsumdog@djsumdog.com What's wrong with the blog posts?Sorry accountability has to come from approved sources so we know that the person is an approved target.This whole saga related to this guy has evaporated any of my desire to be in the good graces of the "FOSS community".I honestly feel like a sucker for thinking these people cared about safety and were just blatant hypocrites.

He was in prison. He plead no contest, served time in prison and then was put on Florida's "Sexual Predatory" registry (which is different from the "Sex Offender" registry. Much worse).This was all revealed when he started vandalizing the XLibre wiki. People looked into this person and found he was a sexual predator working for Canonical. Canonical defended the hiring saying he fully disclosed his criminal history.I'm all for giving people second chances, but Canonical probably didn't look at his specific history, since people with that background probably shouldn't be speaking at conferences with childcare. His crimes were also very horrific and continued for years, according to the testimony of his two sisters.Canonical has since let him go, but he was still allowed to speak at a Debian conference and GUADEC. The organizers know the controversy because his talks are the only ones that haven't been posted from both events.
