@redstarfish no, he just hands out "pleasure cards" to women 40+ years younger than he is at professional events no matter how many times he's told not to, creeps out women at MIT so badly that they stuff their offices with plants to deter him from coming in, and says that an MIT colleague he didn't even know well just have been convinced by how "willing" an underage girl on Epstein Island must have seemed.Nope, nothing there to deter women. @ricardo I agree with that statement. Normally, humans before the age 14 experience puberty, and become sexually active. I don't see any reason why post pubertal humans shouldn't participate in sex. (of course, **with consent**, that goes without saying).

@redstarfish That comment is really troubling from pretty much every angle. It naively assumes that kids under 14 can have safe, responsible sex with each other and somehow avoid pregnancy. Plus, it opens the door to adult-minor relationships, grooming, and keeping child marriage alive.Have a nice day!

They could have done what was good for the free software movement and properly cut ties with a divisive, increasingly problematic - and clearly no longer effective - leader.Instead they chose to be the Stallman Appreciation Society, and make the ideas of Free Software completely irrelevant for the future. I am convinced we need something like the FSF. I'm equally sure the FSF is no longer that thing.

@jannem I disagree. Stallman was wrongly accused of supporting Epstein, which he didn't. He has always called Epstein a "serial rapist". In the statement wrongly quoted about him, he was defending his diseased friend and colleague computer science pioneer Marvin Minsky (you'd know that if you had read stallmansupport.org), (By the way, the person who made the initial accusation in the blog post, has also retraced her statement).FSF is still the only organization that continues to be true to its mission of advancing free software instead getting involved in other political domains. Every other organization is infiltrated by proprietary software apologists, and supporters. Example of Debian, OSI, Linux Foundation readily comes to mind.Stallman resigned because of misunderstanding, it's only natural that he should be brought back, this time with the vote of other directors.

@deadheat @ricardo @jimsalter @redstarfish Necrophilia is quite degenerate behavior, but the fact of the matter is that it doesn't hurt any living being - as the corpse is too dead to care.If someone was to voluntarily agree to necrophilia prior to their death, there would be no grounds for anyone to complain - it seems the people who complain are the persons family - who feel sad for a corpse.It is unfortunately often the case that corpses donated to "science" have a worse fate than necrophilia, but corpses donated for medical use can fare better (if the organs are any good, they are used in organ transplants that last around 7 years on average until the organ fails and corneas in good condition are excellent for transplant and can last a lifespan).Medical use isn't always useful - sometimes the skin is wasted and gets cut up and shaped into purely cosmetic shapes for unneeded extensions added via surgeries (although there isn't really much other use for aged skin other than leather, but people will complain if you make leather rather than leave it to rot).I'm not so weak to die, but I wouldn't mind my organs being used for transplants and my wizard skin and bones being made into a leather throne or robe, just as long as it is used to further freedom (necrophilia would take away the wizard power).

@RedTechEngineer @jannem @redstarfish Proprietary software isn't even out-out in Debian - the only available up to date installer iso's contain proprietary software.You need to use the workaround of a free live image and the debootstrap script if you want to install Debian without installing proprietary software.
