#codeberg and #forgejo people: I'm debating between either spinning up a forgejo instance publicly, or should I just use codeberg.org? I'm comfortable with the selfhosting aspect, just wondering what might be the most realistic.

@jan if sign-ups are enabled, you should probably prepare for lots of spam sign-ups (same with gitlab fwiw). accounts being created to then start spamming by creating issues, projects, comments... i've seen this happening when being active in both akkoma (using forgejo) and pleroma (using gitlab). this obviously also happens on codeberg, but there's people already dealing with it, so you don't have to. i only one time saw spam come through via an email notification, and by the time i checked it, codeberg had already cleaned it up.with the whole ai craze, i also heard about forges being brought down due to ai scrapers, but i don't know how much this is still a problem. afaik codeberg blocks the ai scrapers as much as they can, this can be considered a good or bad thing depending what your stance on the whole thing is (no scrapers, means they won't know about your project, which some people consider good, others not).
