How do I make #mozilla #firefox stop updating automatically? Nothing appears to work. It insists on prompting for an admin password to update its updating mechanism every time I start it. But I don't have that as I don't own the equipment: it's my clients' equipment. How do I make it stop?

@aeveltstra> How do I make Mozilla Firefox stop updating automatically?Vote with your feet, and stop using it.There are plenty of community forks that strip out all the proprietary nonsense (now with ads!), and remove or turn off various stuff that creates tracking risks (eg telemetry being on by default), and bundle some more robust anti-tracking features from add-ons.Happy to give specific suggestions if you tell me what OS you need to use it on.

@strypey Thank you for your help and willingness to assist! I'd love to go down that route. Maybe I can convince my client to do so too. They're a Microsoft shop, using MS Windows 11.

@aeveltstra > They're a Microsoft shop, using MS Windows 11Hmm, that's well outside my expertise. I haven't administrated any Windows since 7. Can anyone out there using Windows as a daily driver recommend a Firefox fork that's less aggravating than vanilla FF?Seems LibreWolf has a Windows version;https://librewolf.net/installation/windows/I've had good experiences using it on GNU/Linux. There's a little bit of a learning curve (eg how to selectively turn on cookies), but not as much as IceCat.

@aeveltstra So, did you find a Firefox fork for Windows that suits your client's needs?
