help on this computer deal. My hubby computer is clogged up with the new windows 11 upgrade. It has caused his puter to move like glue. I think we are just going to have to buy another one. Any suggestions?#windows11sucks

@Donjanusgjrdrm Linux. The transition is easy enough but....BACK UP ANYTHING YOU CARE ABOUT ON AN EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE FIRST BECAUSE INSTALLING A NEW OPERATING SYSTEM WIPES ALL THAT CLEAN TOO.

@Sven It is on his work computer and needs to keep a lot of his reports and so forth. I may need to go in and delete a lot of his old files. He also keeps a lot of emails. He is a nightmare when it comes to his house keeping on his computer. Thank you for your help.

@Donjanusgjrdrm So far as I know, Linux has an equivalent to every windows file. Of course, I'm pretty basic as to what file types I even have in my possession, but it opens seamlessly. The only thing that takes getting used to is everything being named differently but....most any version of Linux is just smaller than this never ending updating Windows thing (any whyyyy? They keep fixing what ain't broke, I never noticed any difference, only that my computer arbitrarily made itself unavailable)

@Sven So I am unclear about this stuff. Do you need to manually upload the Linex system to your computer?

@Donjanusgjrdrm it's been awhile since I did it. Think it was downloaded from the Linux website (there's more than one oje version of Linux to choose from) and put on a flash drive and then pushing the F2 key right after it's turned on gets into a boot menu where you can tell the computer to start going off of this flash drive instead of starting up windows or something like that.Let's see if I know how to correctly tag someone who would know a thing or two about this for sure.@Dan_Ramos

@Sven @Donjanusgjrdrm Hold up... I thought this was a work computer. Shouldn't the workplace's IT people have a say in all of this? I wouldn't do something drastic like that to assets that are owned by a business.Assuming this is his OWN computer maybe for his OWN business, you might try downloading from https://unetbootin.github.io/ and stick a freshly FAT32 formatted USB drive into a port, use the application to put Linux on the USB (maybe recommend choosing Mint).https://youtu.be/w35HDRmiRhE

@Dan_Ramos @Donjanusgjrdrm I re-read it all and now I'm confused whether it's a personal computer, work computer, or whether we're talking about two computers. In any case, Dan Ramos is the real expert here, I'm just a third rate hack.
