So there's a new C64 "product" coming and they asked me to include Rescuing Orc with it. I haven't been offered any compensation (not that I want it, to be clear).I set three conditions, but the "don't sell my game" is a bit awkward because... yep, they don't sell the games, but they are included with the commercial product that, arguably, wouldn't sell that well if it wasn't bundled with games, isn't it?I find all this very exhausting. Why people need to make money from our hobbies?

@reidrac At least you'll get visibility for your game out of the deal, which may or may not be what you want. I think it's great for a non-commercial game to reach more players. It's also sad that they'll be making money partly thanks to your game being bundled with it and you don't get to share the cake.

@tipiak75 That's essentially BS. When someone is making a profit and offering "promotion" and "visibility", that's insulting and I'm not granting permission. They didn't suggest it, so there's that.If someone is making money, that's the currency. Not "promotion" or "visibility" or anything less than.... say cookies or coffee.

@reidrac @tipiak75 On the one hand, a device with few or no games bundled (my read here) is boring, and few people would both buy it and figure out where to get games for it. I would, for instance. maybe, if i had a desire to play c64 games. On the other hand, receiving value is valuable.on the other hand, i never received value for any art (or hobby), so i took my entire catalog and just made it all CC0. It means i don't care anymore what people do or don't with it.

I have denied distribution of my games before; but considering that they are going to bundle 20 games and they decided to include my tittle game, I'm humbled.Obviously, all this could change to not be... exactly as I am been told. Lots can go wrong and I won't have a say afterwards, so I may regret it. Watch this space!

@picofarad @tipiak75 I don't sell my games, it is a labour of love (although if someone pays me a coffee is appreciated). That's quite different from someone making a profit from it. I won't allow that.

@reidrac I wasn't being antagonistic. you've reiterated what i read in your original post, here. I was saying i see the "can we bundle your labour output with our product so people have something to play" side of the coin; i also see the "value for value" side, the "i'll take a coffee if you're offering" side. And my final "side" is my own, which is *my* own, and a statement of fact, not a directive or suggestion or even an opinion.:-)

@picofarad I didn't take it as being antagonistic. No worries!
