"If Democrats had codified X it would be harder to repeal" discourse always misses the point that there are many ways to weaken or outright nullify a law without repealing it. Just look at what Republicans have done (and are still doing) to the ACA.Keep Democrats in office for a longer period and you wouldn’t have these problems. But too many big ego online personalities won’t admit that because it doesn’t draw clicks. Don’t listen to those personalities. They’re not helping you.

@TonyStark 72 days. Democrats had a fillibuster-proof majority for 72 days from July 7, 2009 when Al Franken was sworn in, interrupted for a month between Ted Kennedy's death and the swearing-in of appointed Sen. Paul Kirk, until Republican Scott Brown was sworn in on February 4, 2010. This was actually 24 working days. Democrats had the chance to pass one piece of legislation: the Affordable Care Act.

@MariaHill @TonyStark I keep trying to explain this to those who say “do something” to the Democrats. America gave them a supermajority for a couple months, got the ACA, and then went full racist backlash ever since.I actually had somebody block me for saying it’s magical thinking to believe a party can accomplish a real agenda with a 1-seat majority.

@TonyStark As far as simple majorities in the House and Senate with a Democratic president, that has happened twice this century: 2009-2011 with Obama, and 2021-2023 with Biden. Not coincidentally, these are the two times this century we've seen progress in health care, green energy, job growth and infrastructure.
